Alice Castro, one of his sisters, and Ronald, Leonard, and Lewis Hairston, three of his brothers, all passed away before he did. His sister was named Alice Castro. The first members of his family to die away were his parents. In addition to his service in the armed forces, Vincent was a devoted member of the Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church.
He is survived by his daughters, Tynika Hairston and Brittney Ross; his sisters, Lousie Jones (Bill), Joyce Hale, Barbara Scales, Linda Staples, Constance Hairston, Vanessa Hairston, Faye Hairston Brown (Charles), and Detra Jones; his brothers, Dennis Hairston (Regina), and Barry Hairston; and his five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Hairston. His father, Dennis Hairston, had passed away before him before he was born.
A floating visitation will take place on Sunday, November 26, from one to three in the afternoon at the Wright Funeral Service Chapel in Martinsville, which can be found at 1425 Greensboro Road. Following the service on Sunday, November 26, the interment will take place at 11 o’clock in the morning at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, which is located at 5550 Bagging Plant Road in Dublin, Virginia 24084.
