Suzan Benbow Obituary, Death – On October 12, 2023, Glenda Moreland Nix peacefully bid farewell to the world, concluding her brave battle with cancer at the age of 83. Her legacy, marked by love, warmth, and an unwavering Texan spirit, will forever be etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. Glenda, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, neighbor, and friend, left behind a tapestry of memories that reflect a life well-lived. Born and raised in West Texas, Glenda’s roots ran deep in the heart of Odessa, where she graduated from Odessa High School in 1958. Throughout her life, she remained true to her Texan heritage, embodying the values of resilience, community, and hospitality that define the Lone Star State.
A proud alumna of Baylor University, Glenda earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting, laying the foundation for a successful career. Her journey led her to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), where she dedicated herself to her work until her well-earned retirement. It was at the IRS that she met her husband, Brian Ball, with whom she would share 30 years of love and companionship. Glenda’s most cherished role, after being a dedicated mother, was that of a grandmother. Her love for family, friendship, life, and nature was passed down to her grandson, Austin, ensuring that her spirit and values would endure for generations to come.
Beyond her professional life, Glenda immersed herself in a myriad of passions. She was an avid gardener and took great pride in being a Master Gardener and Citizen Forester. Active in church events, Bible study, and Sunday school, Glenda was a valued member of Lovers Lane United Methodist Church in Dallas, where her contributions left a lasting impact. A memorial service in honor of Glenda Moreland Nix will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church in Dallas. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or the Lovers Lane UMC Food Ministry, reflecting Glenda’s commitment to both health and community service.
