Sheila Lowry Obituary, Death – It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of a cherished member of the community, Sheila Lowry (née Rice) of Hilltown, who peacefully departed this world on November 9th, 2023. Surrounded by her loving family, Sheila bid farewell at the Manor Nursing Home in Rathfriland. Sheila, formerly of Saintfield Road, Ballynahinch, was the beloved wife of the late Leo Lowry and a loving mother to Manus, Aideen, Sheila, and David. Her memory will be forever cherished by her sons and daughters-in-law, Ann Lowry, Mike Grimshaw, and Emmet Kelly. Sheila was a beacon of love and strength in her family, adored and respected by her grandchildren Orlagh, Eimear, Sinead, Ellen, and Lorcan. She also leaves behind a legacy as the sister of Barney Rice.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects as Sheila remains repose at her home at 49 Glenveagh Hilltown from 1 pm to 9 pm on both Friday and Saturday. A heartfelt farewell will take place on Sunday, November 12th, with removal at 10:30 am for the Funeral Mass at 11:30 am in St. John’s Church, Ballymaghery, Hilltown. Following the ceremony, Sheila will be laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery. For those unable to attend in person, the Funeral Mass will be accessible via live stream at http://www.clonduffparish.com/webcam, providing an opportunity for friends and well-wishers from near and far to join in commemorating Sheila’s life.
The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, a cause close to Sheila’s heart. Contributions can be sent c/o The Family. In honor of Sheila’s memory, the family asks for privacy on Sunday morning as they gather to bid their final farewells. The house will be strictly private during this time. As we come together to celebrate Sheila Lowry’s life, let us remember her with fondness and gratitude for the joy, love, and warmth she shared with all fortunate enough to know her. May the Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on her soul. Deeply regretted by the entire family circle, Sheila’s legacy will endure through the memories and love she leaves behind.
