Robert Swink Obituary, Passed Away After A Hard Fought Battle Against Occupational Cancer

Robert Swink Obituary, Death- We regret to inform you of the demise of our good friend and respected colleague, Engineer Robert Swink. After a brave struggle with occupational cancer, he passed away on October 31, 2022. Those lucky enough to have known Robert will hold fond memories of him always. Robert Swink was a wonderful human being whose life was centered on his unyielding love for his family rather than his career as a firefighter. Spending time with his loved ones was of utmost importance to him. His devotion to his wife, kids, and grandkids was inspirational.

Robert cherished his family above all else, but he also found great joy in life’s simplest pleasures. He relaxed by casting his line into the ocean, drinking a wonderful bourbon, and smoking a fine cigar in the beautiful coastal scenery. These were times of peace and quiet when he could think about the things that really mattered in life. Everyone who knew Engineer Swink could attest to his undying dedication to his work and his unflinching bravery under pressure.

His fellow firefighters admired his commitment to saving lives and property. He courageously risked his life to safeguard the populace, displaying fortitude in the face of peril. A Line of Duty Death (LODD) was issued in August in honor of Engineer Swink by the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF). His bravery and ultimate sacrifice will be honored in perpetuity in 2024 when his name is inscribed on the IAFF Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial wall in Colorado Springs, CO.

With profound appreciation for Robert’s service, Local 947 has decided to send members of his family to the memorial event. Engineer Robert Swink’s service and ultimate sacrifice are commemorated forever. Robert’s legacy is one of undying affection, bravery, and dedication. His loved ones and coworkers will miss him terribly, but his memory will endure via the stories we tell.

Let us remember the small pleasures that Engineer Robert Swink discovered in life and the courage he showed in the face of peril as we say goodbye to him. To all who knew him, may his legacy be a source of strength and solace. We are keeping his loved ones in our prayers at this time. Thank you for your service, and may you rest in peace, my dear buddy.
