Phil Hoffman Obituary, Death – At his favorite motorcycle shop, Black Magic Customs, Sandwich resident Phil Hoffman, 65, died peacefully Wednesday, November 15, 2023. He was born October 14, 1958, in Sandwich to Donald and Barbara “Boots” Hoffman. He married Lynn A. Stacey in Sandwich on June 18, 1983. Phil was proud of his Marine Corps scout sniper service in Hawaii. He joined the American Legion Riders and Illinois A.B.A.T.E. Phil was known for his size.

His passion was motorcycles. Phil’s bikes were featured in periodicals and displays worldwide and won awards. His Harley Davidson Panhead Motorcycles were revealed. He taught well and was patient with Jesse, his apprentice, and Dan, his assistant. Phil was great at everything and demanded perfection. His discipline allowed him to overcome severe physical agony to succeed. Great husband, dad, and friend.

Phil is survived by his wife, Lynn of Sandwich; his son, “Spud” (Kathy) Hoffman of MN; his sister-in-law, Jane Johnson of AR; his brother-in-law, Judge Rex (Deb) Stacey of MN; his niece, Anna (Tim Yench) Hoffman of Yorkville, IL; his great nephew, Knoxley; his uncle, Ron Rhoads; his sister-in-law, Lana; and his beloved His vast family and friends will miss him.

After the deaths of his parents, brother Reed Hoffman, and in-laws Joe and Olive Stacey, Burkhart-Eighner Funeral Home in Sandwich, IL will host a visitation for Phil on Sunday, November 26, 2023, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m On November 27, 2023, Sandwich Funeral Home will have a service at 11:00 a.m. Soldiers will be buried in Sandwich’s Oak Ridge.
