Nakysia Williams Obituary, Death- It breaks our hearts to learn of the passing of Detective Nakysia Rachael Lemon-Williams, who served with distinction in the Homicide Branch of the Metropolitan Police Department. While responding to a shooting in the Southeast neighborhood of the District of Columbia on the evening of November 14, 2023, Detective Lemon-Williams was shot and died. At 7:33 a.m., officers from the Sixth District responded to a 911 call in the 1900 block of Minnesota Avenue, Southeast. Multiple bullet wounds were found in the woman collected by the police, who was eventually revealed to be Detective Nakysia Rachael Lemon-Williams.
Despite being quickly responded to and sent to a local hospital, Detective Lemon-Williams ultimately passed away from her wounds. Her passing was officially verified. At 26, Detective Nakysia Rachael Lemon-Williams was an extraordinary woman who dedicated her life to protecting the rights of the citizens she swore to serve. She died in the line of duty. Her steadfast dedication to the rule of law and the protection of the oppressed was clear in all that she did. She was a fearless and tenacious investigator for the Homicide Branch, where she worked tirelessly to solve the most terrible cases.
Both the Metropolitan Police Department and the neighborhood she protected are devastated by the loss of Detective Lemon-Williams. Her genuine warmth and compassion, as well as her tireless commitment to social justice, will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
