October 7, 1991 – November 7, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kaylann Marhae Prater, a beloved resident of Red Jacket, WV. She peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at her residence, marking the end of her earthly journey.

Kaylann was born on October 7, 1991, in South Williamson, KY, to her loving parents, William Prater of McCarr, KY, and the late Tressia Lynn Slone Prater. The loss of her maternal grandparents, Ray and Edna Slone, and paternal grandparents, Cecil and Leona Prater, is deeply mourned.

She leaves behind a cherished legacy, survived by her one son and one daughter, a testament to her nurturing spirit. Kaylann is also survived by her brother, William “Bub” Prater (Julie) of Georgetown, KY, and her adored nephew, Miles Prater. Her memory is embraced by aunts and uncles: Ronnie (Tina) Edwards, Sharon (Wayne) Whitt, Butch (Kim) Whitt, Myrtle Hager, Susan Slone, Tommy (Jeanette) Prater, Lloyd (Neva) Prater, Jim (Penny) Prater, Moran Prater, Elmer Prater, Vance Prater, Sylvan (April) Prater, and a host of cousins, along with numerous other family members and friends.

A visitation to pay respects to Kaylann is scheduled for Friday, November 10, 2023, from 6 PM to 9 PM at the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel. Her funeral services will follow at 7 PM, officiated by Otis Blankenship, providing an opportunity for the community to gather and celebrate her life.

We join together as a community, offering our support, love, and sympathy to those who were touched by Kaylann’s life. Though she may have left this world, her memory lives on in our hearts, and we remember her with love and respect.
