Joseph Eugene Obituary, Death – On the 13th of November 2023, the peaceful embrace of eternity welcomed Joseph Eugene McLone at his home, 22 Grove Place. Surrounded by the love that he cultivated throughout his life, Joseph passed away, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, love, and familial devotion. Joseph, a beloved husband, was preceded in death by his late wife, Margaret (Peggy). Together, they built a family rooted in love and resilience. Joseph’s memory lives on in the hearts of his ten children: Marian, Rosemary, Eugene, Margaret, John, Patrick, Colette, Claire, Michael, and Christopher. He was also a loving father-in-law and a source of inspiration to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A devoted family man, Joseph was not only a father but also a dear brother to Muriel. Together, they weathered the storms of life, finding strength in their familial bond. Joseph’s life was marked by love, loss, and the enduring ties that connect us all. The McLone family invites friends and well-wishers to join them in bidding farewell to Joseph on Wednesday, the 15th of November. The funeral procession will leave his home at 9:20 am, making its way to St. Columba’s Church, Longtower, for a Requiem Mass at 10:00 am. Following the Mass, Joseph will find his final resting place in the City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Foyle Hospice, 61 Culmore Road, Derry. This gesture reflects Joseph’s commitment to compassion and care, even in the face of his own departure. During this challenging time, the McLone family requests privacy from 11:00 pm to 10:00 am and on the morning of the funeral. These moments of solitude will allow them to reflect on the life of their beloved Joseph and prepare for the final farewell. As we say our goodbyes, we remember Joseph Eugene McLone with gratitude for the love he shared, the memories he created, and the family he nurtured. May the Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on his soul, and may Our Lady of Perpetual Help intercede for him in the eternal realm.
