John, brother of Richard, peacefully departed on 11th November at the age of 77 after a courageous battle with a respiratory ailment that had plagued him for the past decade. John’s rugby journey began at Rothwell Grammar School, where he honed his skills and developed a deep passion for the sport. In the early 1960s, he joined our club, becoming a fixture in both the first team and lower teams for over a decade. His dedication to the game was unwavering, and he proudly contributed to nearly 60 first-team games, leaving an indelible mark on our club’s legacy.
Beyond his accomplishments on the field, John was a stalwart follower, supporter, and benefactor of the club. Even after relocating to Devon in more recent times, he remained actively involved, demonstrating his enduring commitment to the club’s success.
