John McGowan Obituary, Death- John McGowan was a local of Laurel, Indiana, and he was 37 years old. On Thursday morning, he was involved in a fatal head-on collision with another driver. The deceased has been identified as John McGowan; the terrible incident occurred at 5:48 a.m. on US Route 127 and Hunter Road, about three to four miles north of Greenville.
The Darke County Sheriff’s Office and emergency crews from Greenville and Greenville Township responded quickly after hearing reports of a major collision. According to the preliminary findings of the sheriff’s investigation, McGowan was traveling north on U.S. Route 127 in his 2013 GMC Acadia when the collision occurred. He was unlucky enough to collide with a southbound 2023 Freightliner semi-tractor-trailer combination when his vehicle crossed the centerline. McGowan’s car swerved to the right off the road and caught fire after he hit something, eventually coming to a halt in a ditch.
Tragically, John McGowan was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision. The Freightliner, driven by a 47-year-old guy from Texas, drove south after the incident until stopping in a ditch. The semi-truck driver was treated for injuries at the site and released after he luckily survived the collision.
