Frank Gammill Obituary, Death- We regret to inform you of the passing of Frank Gammill, who was a valued member of our team and a dear friend. In 1964, Frank became a licensed pharmacist, marking the beginning of a lifelong dedication to the area of pharmacy that would leave a lasting impression. In 1997, Frank made the shift from practicing pharmacy to working as a compliance agent for the Board of Pharmacy, where he could continue to pursue his interest in protecting the credibility of the pharmaceutical industry.
Frank worked tirelessly and devotedly to the profession for many years before being promoted to executive director in 2009. During his amazing tenure as Executive Director, Frank steered the Board through a period of rapid change with elegance, poise, and an unmatched commitment to excellence. His lasting impact on the company is a tribute to the innovative leadership he displayed. One of Frank’s many successes was coordinating the smooth transition to a larger office, which increased the Board’s flexibility in the face of change.
His visionary mindset was also on display when he introduced an online licensing system, which streamlined operations and embraced technological advances for the greater good. Frank was an early adopter of the Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP), showing considerable vision in realizing the program’s potential to improve public health. His work with the National Association of State Controlled Substance Authorities (NASCA) was crucial in laying the groundwork for interstate cooperation.
Frank’s leadership was instrumental in the introduction of PBM law, which highlighted his support for policies that ensured the honesty of drug distribution. Beyond the Board, his impact was seen throughout the whole industry. The expansion of the agency itself is a crowning achievement for Frank. When he accepted the role of Executive Director, the agency comprised 11 staff roles within two divisions. Frank has retired in 2019 after successfully expanding the team to 17 people across five departments under his watch.
