Drew, a recent Athens Academy alum who went suddenly on Monday, was an inspiring young man who had already made a significant impact on the world.
Drew was more than a student; he was a shining example of optimism, a vivacious spirit whose presence brightened our classrooms and athletic fields. The sports director at Athens Academy, Kevin Petroski, used the word “landmark” to characterize Drew because of the lasting impact he has had on both academics and athletics. Sadly, on Saturday afternoon, a skateboarding accident cut short Drew’s promising career. Despite everyone’s best attempts to heal his wounds, he passed away on Monday night.
With his May graduation from Athens Academy behind him, Drew was ready to continue his academic and athletic career at Rhodes. His commitment to succeeding academically and athletically was obvious to everybody who knew him. His passion for sports, particularly track, was infectious, and he was planned to pursue his athletic endeavors at the collegiate level.
Everyone who knew Drew will miss his infectious laugh, generous spirit, and boundless energy.
