Diana Wittman Obituary, Longtime Resident Of Andover Kansas, Has Died

Diana Wittman Obituary, Death – Diane M. Wittman (Wuyts) of Kaukauna, age 62, passed away on June 26, 2013, surrounded by her family after a courageous 22-month battle with brain cancer. She was born on March 13, 1951, in Appleton to Jack and Berniece Wuyts (Besaw). Diane was a graduate of Kaukauna High School, completing her studies in 1969. Later, in 1998, she graduated with high honors from Fox Valley Technical College and became a member of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society.

On December 4, 1971, Diane married the love of her life, David J. Wittman, and they lived in Kaukauna throughout their lives. She was well-known for her countless friends in Kaukauna and at their cherished cottage on Sunrise Lake and, later, on Flower Lake. Her greatest joys in life included spending time at the cottage, knitting, quilting, and taking evening walks for nearly three decades with her friend, Elaine. She also treasured her moments with her grandchildren. Diane dedicated 29 years of her life to the Kaukauna Public Library, serving as Assistant Director until cancer compelled her retirement.

Her work at the library was a source of genuine enjoyment for her, including the interactions with library customers, the camaraderie of her colleagues, and her involvement in various projects. Diane was an active volunteer, contributing her time to numerous activities, including her role in Boy Scout Troop 104, where she helped Scouts earn their Personal Management Merit Badge. She also served as the Finance Secretary for the troop for many years. Diane held financial and secretarial positions with the Saint Aloysius School Board and the Kaukauna Rotary Club.

She was a key figure in organizing the Kaukauna Area Historical Society and briefly served on the KEEN Board, now known as the Kaukauna Community Family of Funds, before her health challenges required her to step back. Diane is survived by her high school sweetheart, husband, best friend, and caregiver, Dave. She took great delight in her children, Cory (Angela) Wittman and Mike (Becky) Wittman, and her beloved granddaughters, Allie Jo, Coryna, and Jada.
