Aaron Rivas Obituary & Cause Of Death, Florida Police Officer Has Died

Aaron Rivas Obituary, Death – On October 27, 2023, in High Springs, Florida, Aaron Michael Rivas, 32, of Yulee, Florida, passed away. On January 15, 1991, he was born to Ronald and Wendy Rivas at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines. Aaron received his Associate of Arts from Valencia Community College after completing his studies at Gateway High School. Thereafter, he attended the University of Central Florida for his undergraduate studies and Nova Southeastern University for his graduate education in criminal justice.

He was pursuing a doctorate degree at Capella University. Beginning his career in the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice in December 2013, Aaron quickly rose through the ranks to Senior Probation Officer thanks to his expertise as a High-Risk Specialist. He spent five years with the Florida Department of Corrections and ultimately became a Correctional Probation Specialist (High-Risk Supervision Officer) before leaving. He began with FDC in May 2016.

He taught criminal justice at Florida Technical College from 2016 to 2019 and then served as the Florida Police Benevolent Association’s (PBA) Region 3 Vice President for Probation Officers from 2019 to 2021. Mr. Rivas began working for the Department of Corrections in May of 2016 in Circuit 10 (Polk County), and he will remain there until January 2021 when he will be transferred to Circuit 9 (Osceola County). Mr. Rivas continued his commitment to public safety in 2021 when he accepted a position as a Law Enforcement Officer with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

As an Adjunct Law Enforcement Instructor at the Florida Public Safety Institute, he helped train future law enforcement officers. Aaron is survived by his wife, Hunter Dille, whom he married on December 22, 2022, in Hilliard, FL; his parents, Ronald and Wendy Rivas; his brothers, Ronald (Ruth) Rivas of Olympia, Washington, Jordan Diedrich of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Kevin (Baylee) Diedrich-Rivas and Alexander Rivas of Orlando, Florida.

He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Cassie Mc Dermott and Brittney Bailey; Grandparents, William and Karol LaPine of Alpena, MI and Olga Diaz of The Villages, FL; his very special nieces and nephews, Hazel Rose, Bentley Kade, John, Eleanor, and Oaklynn Rivas who he loved tremendously and would do anything for even if it meant missing a day of work. His grandfather Laureano Diaz died before he did.

Aaron was a well-respected man who was loved by his extended family and community. He had numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Thousands of people all over the world will mourn his passing. Funeral services will be held at Faith Community Church, 1990 Neptune Road, Kissimmee, FL, on Friday, November 10, 2023, at 2:00 pm. Prior to the service, the family will be available for visitation from 1:00 to 2:00. Osceola Memory Gardens Funeral Home of Kissimmee, Florida has been entrusted with the arrangements.
